I Stand Corrected- Country First Update

I wish all of you could have had some of the great follow up discussions I personally had with folks about my “Country First” prior blog. This is a serious issue for so many people and there are many great ideas out there. What folks have shared with me are numerous issues and thoughts…they are very powerful and would take days to research…but they are fantastic and worthy of being posted. Here’s some info that people were kind enough to discuss with me.
- National Safety - Okay - I was extremely naive in my thoughts about this subject. Most of our security measures are off limits to us - for security reasons - but I have a better understanding of the urgency to stay on top of it all. I have a friend in public safety and he has to put his life on the line if say someone reports a car bomb or anthrax for instance. I sometimes think “oh it won’t happen here in Southern California”, but thank goodness officials at city governments take this matter seriously. They spend hours upon hours having their fire and police forces prepared to handle these types of situations. So it’s not just about protecting our borders…but our interior as well. My apologies for not understanding the importance of this to local districts.

- World Views - A friend who lives in Canada pointed out to me the importance of the US election is worldwide. It appears that the world is bit concerned if “change” will indeed come! And they don’t want the same as well.
- Empty words - It seems everyone wants all the candidates to put substance behind their words. Like how are you going to create new jobs? It’s easy to say, but with our current work structure - there are only two things to do at the moment…grow or downsize. Most are downsizing. So how are we going to add jobs in this bleak economy?
- Outsourcing - Great article in Business Week this edition. How much we outsource our pharmaceuticals. Another area that got away.
- Sarah Palin this Sarah Palin that…lots of comments about her. But I have to admit it was a “genius” move by the RNC. She’s captivated the country if not the world. She’s made the election exciting.
China - The Olympics showed us a lot about China. I have to give my sis props on opening my eyes to this. Look at the innovations that had. Look at the fact that over 1 million citizens volunteered. (Would that happen in America.) She also made a great point…with so many people there…how do they run their health care system? If anyone has that answer I’d love to hear it. They all look healthy, not as overweight as other countries.- Censoring News - I’m all befuddled over NBC asking Obermann and Matthews to stay home election night. I mean those who watch them know their bent like we know O’Reillys or the others. I’m going to ponder this awhile and will probably blog about it in the future.
Got to keep this post short for I’m off to tennis…I’m able to do this because we are protecting our country so well. At the end of the day, most of you said we all just wanted a unified America. I agree with you on that. The party doesn’t matter. The country does.
Thanks for the conversations.
