A Man Who Loves His Job
Filed Under (Business, Pet Peeves) by admin on 26-06-2008
As most of you know I’ve been in the TV business for a few years and as such, I’ve had the opportunity to attend a few show tapings in my day. Tuesday marked a rare opportunity for me to attend a taping not as a publicist, but as a member of the general audience and it felt great. I watched TV magic being made at “The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson.” And it was a hoot.
Craig and his staff run a terrific show. It’s real. It’s fun. It’s lively. It’s entertaining-all that and a bag of candy!
While watching I couldn’t help, but envy Mr. Ferguson. You could clearly tell that he loves what he is doing. The warmth and friendliness that you see on air is extended during the set changes and breaks. He talks to the smallish studio audience (115 members) as if he’s just welcomed you into his home. You matter. You are part of the production and you enjoy his company. And the best thing you’ll be smiling the whole time you are there.
If you ever find yourself in LA and/or live in LA and feel a bit jaded about the industry…take my advice. Get tickets to see a taping of his show. It’s the best kept secret in town. You’ll laugh more than you ever had in a very long time.
Hats off to everyone involved from Peter Lassally, Craig Ferguson, Mike Nadius on down. May the ratings Gods keep shining upon you and may you continue having fun in the front of the camera for years to come. Thanks for sharing your good nature and humor with us every late night. Set your TIVOS if you never had the chance to catch his show…it’s well worth your time.
Here’s a sample of his work. Craig’s a newly minted US Citizen. That’s one of the best things to happen to our country. Enjoy.
