One of Your Best Days Ever-Graduation Day

Filed Under (Transitions, Uncategorized) by admin on 12-06-2008

Today is graduation day for most public high schoolers. As I drove around town this afternoon I saw dozens of proud parents who had painted their cars with well wishes to their very own grads. So cool to see, but probably embarrassing for the kid.

So in honor of this day, I’m going retro and including my high school pix in this post…actually it is one of my favorite photos. I had great Farrah hair back then. Sorry I couldn’t find a color version -mom is the only one that has one and it still adorns our hallway wall these few years later. (I wish few years.)

As I reminised, I thought a bit about high school graduation day and deduced that it is one of the best days in life–Actually your final week of high school is right up there too. Why? The reason is that you pretty much can do no wrong. I mean finals are in the can. Graduation is coming. School is out for some forever. Great grad parties and presents are forthcoming. Your parents are brimming with pride about you. People are flying in. You’re making arrangements with friends for more parties and your college stuff has all been done. It’s an absolute blast. You’re flying on air. Just like your caps.

Having been through two graduations high school definitely ranked above college’s walk for sure. I mean in college you are a bit older and wiser to the world and you know that bills will soon have to be paid and the jobs that you are now seeking are important. Not just any old job will do. You’ve spent the last four to five years studying a particular subject in hopes of securing a position that will provide for advancements. There’s more pressure after college.

So this post is dedicated to the 2008 Graduating Class. You have all achieved something great today and your life is now before you for your own choosing. Choose wisely and listen in. Go after your dreams and don’t you dare let anyone take them away from you.

Enjoy your last moments with your graduating class. Shake hands and give as many hugs as possible for you may not see them again. So few ever come back to reunions. Also, remember to thank your teachers who made it possible for you to wear that cap and gown today.

Have a blast at your grad parties and enjoy this time before responsibilities kick in. This great feeling will probably last until Monday. That’s when the parents have had enough of you sleeping in. The summer job starts about then…and you still have to pick up your room.

In all seriousness though “Hats off” to you and your achievements today.

Best,

Cindy
