Vice President Anyone?

As you can see by the picture below that I’m in the midst of setting up my own shingle. (I know.. bad joke…but I couldn’t find any photos of people hanging up signs.)

Anyway…for the time being as I look for full-time work I am contemplating starting my own consulting business. I’m also thinking about expanding my horizons a bit and daring to ponder doing something totally different. I’m not quite sure what that looks like, but I’m having numerous chances to find out. This week alone, I assisted a friend teach her 8th grade P.E. class (that was fun…but a bit out of my wheelhouse. Man, I don’t remember being so chatty at that age!) I also watched a neighbor install a new fence (sort of hard work and dirty) and then today, I was supposed to help paint the “houses” in the ice of our curling rink. Ah, that’s not a job for me either. (Wet, cold, sore knees.) So I can take those off my list. And there’s still one more job that’s available right now that I definitely do not want and that’s the Office of the Vice President of the United States! Who wants that? And better yet why do McCain and Obama want to be our next President?

Actually I have to give props to the candidates. I mean, whoever wins is in for a rough beginning-we all know that and you have to admire then for wanting to jump in and try to fix our situations. The U.S. is topsy turvy and in desperate need of attention in so many areas. I mean where would you start? Which item on this is list is more of a priority than another. Look at the things that need to be addressed and immediately.

  • The war in Iraq
  • The deficit
  • Health care
  • Joblessness
  • Recession
  • Foreign Aid
  • Lending situations
  • Steroids in baseball

The list is endless. I pride myself in being pretty well organized and a multi-tasker, but I know I would fail if I was in charge of the goings on in the U.S. right now. I really wouldn’t know where to begin, but to start the delegation. Speaking of delegations (nice segue huh), we’ll soon find out who the VPs, the running mates will be. Let’s hope for perfect matches for we can only be strong as a team than if divided as a nation. It’s now time for America to put all partisan feelings aside and work together to help out those who are hurting. I mean does anyone have a handle on what’s going on with the gas prices? I’m not hearing that anyone is concerned about putting a stop to the gouging -have you?

Also, I read an article today that just sickened me. South Los Angeles is in desperate need of doctors, clinics and hospitals. Five of that area’s hospitals have closed. Someone please explain this to me. How in the world is it possible that we need less care for our brethren as our population grows. This shouldn’t be happening in Southern California. Our State has money…or, well used to. We need help! We need attention! We need leadership and direction.

With that being the case, whoever wins…we need to band together and start ’saying no’ to the things we can’t take anymore (war, price of gas) and say ‘yes’ to the things that we can to help make America unified again. There’s power in numbers and we all need to stand in the gap of our government and give them a chance.

Pray for our country. Pray for our soldiers. Pray for jobs, especially those we heard about today losing their livelihoods in the airline industry. It doesn’t appear that we will be turning the corner on any of these issues soon…so have patience…hold on and battened down the shingles, I mean hatches. To all my other colleagues in the unemployment line, I stand firm with you.

God’s Speed,

Cindy
